Favorite Breads and Bakeries

A short list of some of my favorite breads and bakeries! Over time they will have blog entries. I will also be developing a list of recommended bakeries around the world to serve as a resource for traveling breadheads. Your suggestions for that list will always be welcome!

United States

  • Almond Croissant, Bouchon Bakery, Yountville, California. (Yeah, I know it isn’t really bread, but…)
  • Country Loaf, Tartine Bakery, 600 Guerrero Street, San Francisco.
  • Amy’s Bread. Multiple locations, New York City. The best bakery I have found in NYC. Very good bread for its high volume! The daily special loaves seem particularly worthwhile.

France

  • Miche Poilâne, Poilâne (multiple locations), Paris.
  • Pain aux Cereales and Baguette aux Cereales, Eric Kayser (mulitiple locations and name variations), Paris.

Italy

  • Pane Cascarrecio di Genzano, Forno a Legna da Sergio, Genzano, Italy (about 20 miles south of Rome). Great day trip from Rome.
